Making a difference

Video makes a difference. It is clear and consistent and personal. It can make those connections like nothing else. People see your message. It sounds like a cliche, but seeing is believing.

Here are some ways that video has built bridges for our clients.

 

"In April of this year, a team of pediatric emergency healthcare doctors and nurses from Canada, all volunteers with Bridges Social Development (www.canadabridges.com), were set to travel to Yemen to teach their counterparts in Yemen. Bridges' expert volunteers have been training professionals in poor communities of Yemen for several years. At the very last minute, this training visit to Yemen had to be postponed. The reason? Threats to Westerners by Al-Qaeda operatives in Yemen.

Security risks have to be taken seriously by Western humanitarians. Bridges and its local partners in Yemen need to manage these security risks, but everyone knows that the pediatric emergency training is critically needed in Yemen. What to do? Bridges asked healthcare leaders in neighbouring Oman if Bridges could invite Yemeni doctors and nurses to Oman for training (along with Omani pediatric emergency healthcare providers). Having a video to explain Bridges' approach to the Omani healthcare community helped to build human-to-human trust that was needed to convince the Omanis of the merits of this training, and to allay any fears about the approach taken by Bridges. Bridges could have provided pages and pages of text to explain the training...and we did! But, what really built our credibility with the Omanis was the video produced by your company of Dr. Roger Galbraith explaining our values and approach.

Our Bridges' healthcare team departs for Oman in November, and Inshallah, we will have excellent training opportunities with Yemeni and Omani pediatric emergency healthcare providers."
